Dengate Dominates (Almost)

As the clouds parted and the rain finally eased, round 2 of the 750MC Sports Special Championship got under way.

In the 5club MX150R class, with a field made up of all ability levels ranging from absolute beginners (welcome to Sylvia Mutch and Micky Scott), through to experienced and accomplished competitors, exciting racing was what we wanted and that’s exactly what we got!

Race 1
The sun preceded to shine on Red Rascal Racing’s car 75 driven by Kevin Dengate, as he lead the pack from qualifying though both races, but Chris Lovett made him work hard for every corner of every lap, missing out on the win by 4/10ths of a second!

In the battle for best of the rest, in car number 5, 5club founder and guest driver Alyn Robson stormed through the pack to take the third spot relegating Stewart Mutch into a familiar 4th with Darren Griffin in close attendance.

A little further back, Russell Clarke managed to gap the battling John Potter and Micky Scott with our own wizard (Potter) coming out on top in both outings, followed home by an improving Sylvia Mutch.

Race 2
Race two was almost a carbon copy of race one, even if the groups were closer, And the positions harder fought for.

Kevin Dengate again took the win, but with only 1/100th of a second separating Kevin and Chris Lovett, it couldn’t have been closer.

Further down the field car 78 Stewart Mutch and guest driver Alyn Robson swapped places on what seemed like every bend of every lap with Alyn again pipping Stewart Mutch into 4th place but the gap over the line was only 3/10ths of a second.

With even more cars on the way, and the newer drivers getting quicker and quicker, it’s going to be a big ask for Kevin to keep that top spot for himself.

The calendar for the rest of the season is:

5/7/14 Rockingham
26-27/7/14 Anglesey
23-24/8/14 Silverstone
13-14/9/14 Cadwell Park
4-5/10/14 Donnington Park
